Your Guide to the Beaches of Vrsar (Straight from a local)

To make things simple and help you find your vibe faster, let’s split the Vrsar coastline into two parts: South and North.

Our main landmark? Vrsar Marina, that’s where our boats Lidija and Bolivar are docked. If you get lost, just head there.

🟢 SOUTH SIDE OF VRSAR

(Starting from the marina and heading south)

1. Belvedere Beach

Just 200 meters south of our boats you’ll hit the first (and closest) beach. The name says it all — Belvedere means “beautiful view” in Italian — and trust me, the panorama here hits different. Sunset walks here? Pure postcard material.

Terrain:
The beach starts with a pebble section. The entry into the sea is gentle, with a max depth of around 3 meters — making it one of the safest and most family-friendly beaches around. The rest is concrete platforms facing the open sea, where it gets properly deep.

Activities:
The beach faces St. George Island. Feeling brave? You can swim across (about 100 meters) or jump from the bridge (20 meters to the island). Just be careful, currents can get tricky. Not for rookies.

Snorkeling:
Closer to the island, the seabed turns sandy and you’ll spot plenty of tiny shells.

Heads up:
The rocky southern part can be challenging for inexperienced swimmers, and the sea ladders sometimes aren’t in perfect shape.

Facilities:
Sunbeds, umbrellas, floating water park, pedal boats, Thai massage.

2. Porto Sole Beach

A few hundred meters of sun-soaked coastline, hence the name “Sunny Cove.” It’s inside Porto Sole Camp (Maistra), between Petalon Camp and Belvedere Resort.

Sun, salt, shade, whatever mood you’re in, this place delivers. Can’t decide between sunbathing or chilling in the shade? You’ll find both here.

Terrain:
A mix of pebbles (about 45 meters), stone, concrete, and grassy areas. Big trees give you natural shade, no umbrella required.

Safety:
Shallow and great for kids. Except when the garbin wind kicks in (strong waves from the northwest/west).

Facilities:
Beach bar, new sanitary facilities (heated for winter guests), bakery, fruit stand. Nearby: tennis, padel, football, table tennis.

3. Petalon Beach

Mostly concrete and rocky, with around 30 meters of pebbles.

But don’t let that scare you off. If you love roasting in the sun and then diving straight into deep blue water, this is your spot. It’s usually chill. Unless it’s not. You know how summer goes.

Terrain:
Part shallow, mostly open and deep. The north side isn’t ideal for swimming. The south side (near the pool and restaurant) is much more protected.

Pro tip:
Bring water shoes. Seriously.

For kids:
There are inflatables, but when the wind picks up, Belvedere’s inflatable zone is a safer bet.

Fun fact:
Popular diving area and fishing net drops during the season.

Dogs:
There’s a 100-meter dog beach nearby. It’s far enough (500 m+) from accommodations, so no one complains.

Facilities:
Sunbeds and umbrellas for rent.

4. Koversada Camp & Beach

A massive campsite with over 2 km of coastline (including the island). Important note: until 2025 it was fully nudist. Now only a small eastern part of the island remains FKK, the rest is textile.

Walk through the promenade and you’ll notice the ancient pine trees and Mediterranean greenery everywhere. Why does that matter? Because your lungs will thank you. Fresh air, shade, peace. I’m no philosopher, but you’ll genuinely feel better just walking here.

Terrain:
Stone, concrete, rocks dominate. In the middle of the camp there’s a 70-meter sandy beach, wind-protected and perfect for families.

Koversada Island:

  • Inner (east) side: 110 m stone beach, safe for swimmers (watch strong currents).
  • Outer (west) side: Not recommended, boats pass close to shore.

Nearby spots:
South is Punta Trole (epic views). East is a small boat service area.
In the FKK zone at the entrance to Lim Bay you’ll find Blesička Beach, depths go down to 25 meters. Diver heaven.

Food tip:
Feral Trattoria (formerly Punta Trole) serves one of the best sunsets in the area.

Facilities:
Sunbeds, umbrellas, mini golf, beach volleyball, sea workouts/animation.

5. Lim Bay

Further south you enter Lim Bay. Hidden beaches are tucked away here like little secrets. The water is cooler and extra refreshing due to depth, currents, and freshwater springs.

This Nature Park deserves its own article, it’s a huge part of our history and identity. Stay tuned.

🔵 NORTH SIDE OF VRSAR

(Starting from the north toward town)

1. Valkanela Camp & Beach

Long pebble beach plus a mix of small coves. Similar vibe to Koversada, but busier. More people, more action. Still, you can find your quiet corner if you wander a bit.

Terrain:
Concrete and rocks dominate. Mostly shallow water with safe coves and some open sections.

Dogs:
The part facing Vrsar is dog-friendly.

Facilities:
Everything from massages to tennis, mini golf, water sports.

2. Orsera Camp & Beach

Right at the entrance to Vrsar (Orsera is the Italian name for the town).

Some of the most insane sunsets I’ve personally seen. There’s always an island in front of you, blocking waves, and if the sea is calm, the reflection is chef’s kiss.

Terrain:
Starts with a small pebble dog beach, then concrete to the end of the camp. Great for sunbathing, not overcrowded, smooth sea entry.

Facilities:
Umbrellas, sunbeds, massage, sometimes inflatables.

3. City Beach (Gradska Plaža)

The main public beach with around 220 meters of pebbles, the longest beach of its kind in Vrsar.

This is where most locals hang out, if you ask me. When the sun drops in the evening, it honestly feels like it’s melting into the sea.

Safety:
Very safe, relatively shallow. Accessible sea entry for people with disabilities.

Food recommendation:
Don’t skip Il Segreto restaurant. Sunset + quality + price = hard to beat.

Little insider trick:
Book a table and say you read about it on our site. We get a free coffee. Thanks in advance 😉

Facilities:
Pancake/corn stand, beach volleyball, bar, restaurant.

4. The “Forest” & Montraker

After City Beach, walk about 150 meters through a small forest area. It’s steep, rocky, natural — and full shade. Rarely crowded. Perfect if you want semi-privacy.

Honestly, no one seems to know the official name of this “forest.” But who cares, pine scent, cicadas, maybe even squirrels. Maximum zen.

Then you reach Montraker.

Locals who love swimming choose this spot. If parking isn’t packed, they’ll swim the “Montraker, City Beach” route and back. That’s a solid 30–60 minute workout depending on pace.

Depth is decent, so if you dive you might spot sea bream, cormorants, or sponges.

Terrain:
Former quarry, stone was even shipped to Venice. Today: about 90 meters of pebbles, rest is rocks and concrete.

Facilities:
Beach volleyball, bars, restaurants, massage.

Fun feature – “The Cube”:
Old concrete pier block now used for jumping into the sea. Careful, it’s not super deep.

Accessibility:
Sea lift available for people with disabilities.

Warning:
Northwest side is open sea and busy with boats, swimmers, stay in the safe zone.
